New owners, name for Sanibel Medical

Dr. Bob Bussing and his wife, Nancy, recently purchased Sanibel Medical from Dr. Gary Wright and they are now running the clinic full-time under the new name of Sanibel Internal Medicine.

Bussing was trained at the University of Louisville, where he obtained his MD, and he did his residency at the SIU School of Medicine. He was chief resident in medicine and taught at SIU for 16 years. Bussing taught residents and students, and he received numerous awards for teaching.

He has been on several mission trips, volunteering his time at a rural hospital in Agbozume, Ghana.

Bussing's practice is in internal medicine and long-term primary care for adults. He later became involved with addiction treatment with the Gateway Foundation and served as the medical director of the Jacksonville facility.

San Cap Community Bank reopens Periwinkle location

Sanibel Captiva Community Bank announced the reopening of its branch at 1037 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. In March, the location was temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the branch size, specific safety practices are being implemented to ensure the safety and health of visitors, including servicing one customer at a time and requiring face masks be worn during customer service appointments. Social distancing measures are also being enforced.

Founded in 2003, the bank has two locations on Sanibel and five more throughout Lee County.

San Cap Community Bank hires Ball

Sanibel Captiva Community Bank recently announced the hiring of Erin Ball as a teller and customer service representative at the Winkler Branch location in Fort Myers.

She is responsible for assisting customers with personal and business banking transactions.

Ball is a Southwest Florida native and has previous experience in the real estate, mortgage lending and customer service industries.
